How do I log into WebCT?

1. Click on "Log on WebCT"
2. Enter your User ID. Your user ID is the same as your BAMA user ID. If you don't know your BAMA ID, look at your Bama mail address. Your Bama ID is the part before the @ symbol.

eg. my email address is slucas@bama.ua.edu
therefore, my user id is "slucas"

if your email address is smith001@bama.ua.edu
then your id is "smith001"

DO NOT use your alias "firstname.lastname@ua.edu"

3. If you don't know your Bama email address because you use another server on campus for email, click here and enter your first name and last name to look up your email address.
4. Enter your password. Your password is the last four digits of your social security number.
5. Click OK.

You will see the courses you are enrolled in already listed.

What is my Bama ID?

Your Bama ID is the part before the @ symbol in your Bama email address.

eg. my email address is slucas@bama.ua.edu
therefore, my user id is "slucas"

Some colleges give students an email address within the college, so students don't use their Bama email. That's ok. You still have a Bama email address even if you don't use it.

If you don't know your Bama email address, click here and enter your first name and last name to look up your email address.

What is my password?

Your password is initially set to the last four digits of your social security number.

We recommend that you change your password on first log in.

If you forget your password, you will need to come to the Faculty Resource Center with your student id.

How do I change my password?

Log into WebCT using your Bama ID and the last four digits of your social security number. Click the Change Password link located on the black bar near the top of your myWebCT page.

Type your current password then tab to the next textbox and type your new password of 4 or more characters. Then tab to the third textbox and re-type your new password.

Click the Update Password link, then the Continue link. Netscape will display an error message, but just click the OK button.

How do I log out of WebCT?

As there is no normal log out button in WebCT, it is very important that you quit your browser, particularly if you are working in a lab. The browser can keep a temporary copy of your password if you don't quit it.

How do I access WebCT from home? I AM using AOL.

WebCT and AOL are not very compatible and you will have trouble if you try to use AOL to access your course. What you need to do is to use AOL to access the internet, but then open a normal browser such as Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer and type: http://webct.ua.edu into the address bar.

I've logged into WebCT, but my course is not listed.

If your course is not listed in the "MyWebCT" section after you have logged in, it is probably because your professor has not added you to the course yet. Please contact your professor directly.
